A part of Energy Queensland, Yurika is a team of market-leading experts in distributed energy, electrical infrastructure, metering and telecommunications solutions. Yurika works with its customers to deliver innovative, fit-for-purpose solutions that meet their individual needs and help save money.
The Project
Yurika's innovative Smart Connected Solar project was developed to deliver an estimated energy saving of over 20 GWh each year to its client, QIC Global Real Estate (QICGRE). Yurika worked with QICGRE to develop a behind-the-meter large-scale and multi-site solar solution utilising an innovative financial model. This advances the management of large solar installations and positions the client as a national renewable energy powerhouse.
Three extensive solar systems (9MW), including the largest rooftop solar system in the southern hemisphere at the time (13,340 panels installed at Robina in early 2021), were successfully deployed at several of Australia's largest and highest-profile retail precincts - Robina Town Centre, Gold Coast; Grand Central, Toowoomba and Watergardens, Melbourne.
Scope of Work
Yurika engaged YZ Consulting to undertake assessment services on the solar systems, ensuring the installation meets the approved design. As part of our role, YZ Consulting certified practical completion on the three major projects against pre-defined quality criteria.
Achieving a high-quality outcome for all parties involved was at the core of our activities – with a particular focus on big-ticket items with real-world, long-term impacts on performance and safety. Our work involved reviewing "As-Built" documentation, conducting multiple site visits to inspect rooftops, switch rooms and inverter stations and communicating our findings in punch lists and reports.
We delivered the work in partnership with Florian Hess at Indigo Solar Consulting.
Result
All three projects were successfully signed off, working closely with Yurika and its contractors. The end client QICGRE now enjoys the benefits of three fully functional and high-performing solar PV systems, offsetting loads at the following shopping centres: Watergardens Town Centre, VIC (2.45 MWp), Toowoomba Grand Central, QLD (0.98 MWp) and Robina Town Centre, QLD (5.5 MWp).
